Jose Mourinho Leaves Chelsea

Filed under: Sports — admin @ 8:12 am

Jose Mourinho’s turbulent reign at Chelsea came to a dramatic end last night after crisis talks with Roman Abramovich following the club’s 1-1 draw against Rosenborg the previous evening.Mourinho sent text messages to five senior players last night telling them he was leaving and the club confirmed at 1.45am this morning that they had parted company with the manager “by mutual consent”.

Chelsea’s directors, who have been stunned by the speed of Mourinho’s departure, were summoned back to Stamford Bridge last night for an emergency meeting after the premiere of the club’s tub-thumping documentary Blue Revolution.

Mourinho, who has been at loggerheads with the Chelsea board for the past 12 months, sent text messages to five players at 6pm last night and told them that he was leaving after a little over three years at the club.

Juande Ramos, who was in charge of Sevilla during their 3-0 defeat by Arsenal in the Champions League last night, is already one of the names being linked with the job.

Ramos turned down Tottenham last month, when it emerged he was waiting for a bigger offer, and he is one of many names on Chelsea’s radar after leading Sevilla to two successive UEFA Cups. (more…)

Lassana Diarra has stated he left Chelsea for Arsenal as he needed more first-team football. The French midfielder, who secured a transfer deadline day switch to The Gunners, felt he was too far down The Blues’ pecking order to make an impact. The 22-year-old spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge after joining from Le Havre, but made just nine Premier League starts under Jose Mourinho. Diarra feels he will have a greater chance of playing at Arsenal, although he acknowledges he is not guaranteed first-team football under Arsene Wenger either. “I needed to play and get more time on the pitch and I don’t think it would be possible at Chelsea,” he said in The Sun. “At Chelsea, we had Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard, Claude Makelele and Michael Essien in midfield. “I know it will be tough to make it at Arsenal as well. I have no guarantee from Arsene Wenger I will play all the time but I am sure that it will be okay. “I know I will play big matches in the league and even in the Champions League.”
