Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger has finally found a Silva lining to a miserable summer. Croatia chief Slaven Bilic reckons Eduardo da Silva will certainly be able to fill the void at the Emirates that has been created by Thierry Henry’s departure — as long as he is given time. Deadly striker Da Silva, 24, signed on the line for the Gunners yesterday in a £10million deal. He was born in Rio but emigrated to Zagreb when he was just 15 — and has now become one of his adopted homeland’s most prized players. Bilic had no qualms promoting him from the Under-21 side to senior level — and has been rewarded with spectacular goals for the Euro 2008 Group E high-fliers. Indeed, to date, Da Silva has bagged eight goals in just 14 international matches. And Bilic said: “He is not yet a big name in the Premier League but, don’t forget, he has already scored a goal against England. “In fact, last season, he scored 54 goals combined for Croatia and for Zagreb. He is certainly a goalscorer.
