Stoke City have completed the signing of Southampton striker Ricardo Fuller for an undisclosed fee.
The Jamaica international joins The Potters after passing a medical at The Britannia Stadium on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Staffordshire outfit, as manager Tony Pulis was keen to boost his attack.
Stoke’s need to add a striker was further enhanced by Wednesday’s departure of Icelandic marksman Hannes Sigurdsson to Danish club Brondby.
Fuller brings plenty of experience to The Potters after previous playing spells at Hearts, Preston North End and Portsmouth.
Saints boss George Burley admitted it would have been difficult for Fuller to get regular first-team action at St Mary’s this term.
“There were a number of scenarios that came in to play and in the end, we felt that this move was in everybody’s best interest,” Burley told the club’s official website.
“Ricardo was one of the bigger earners at the club, but at the moment, there are probably three strikers ahead of him in the pecking order.
“I spoke to Ricardo about a new contract, but Stoke were prepared to offer him a three-year deal, so that is terrific for him.”
Newcastle United have agreed a shock loan swoop for Manchester United’s young striker Giuseppe Rossi.
The Italian youth international is highly-rated at Old Trafford and had been expected to make an impact on the United first team during the coming campaign after the sale of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Real Madrid.
Indeed, Ferguson refused to allow the American-born Rossi to move to West Bromwich Albion as part of the deal that saw Tomasz Kuszczak join The Red Devils.
However, Glenn Roeder’s Magpies have now managed to convince Ferguson that Rossi’s interests will be best served at St James’ Park in a loan move until January.
“It was a big decision for us, especially as we don’t have the choice of strikers,” Ferguson told United’s official website.
“But this is something that Giuseppe wanted, as he needs regular first-team football.
“When he returns, he will be a more experienced player who will be able to offer us much more.”
Despite signing Obafemi Martins from Internazionale, Newcastle were still keen to reinforce their attack after seeing Alan Shearer retire and Michael Owen pick up a serious injury during this summer’s World Cup.
The capture of Rossi will be seen as another coup for the club who signed Damien Duff from Chelsea over the summer, and the Italian forward, who has been prolific in Ferguson’s reserve ranks, will look to serve notice of his great potential at St James’ Park over the coming four months.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to bring Japanese starlet Sho Ito to the club. The 18-year-old has been on trial with The Gunners in a bid to earn a switch to The Emirates Stadium.
After being impressed by Ito, Wenger is working frantically to secure the Japan Under-21 international a work permit and visa before the deadline passes.
“I like him, I want to sign him and we are applying for a working visa for him on the basis of exceptional talent,” Wenger said.
“Last season we had an exceptional talent visa for a Cameroon international, Alex Song, and this player looks another exciting prospect.”

Mateja Kezman has left Atletico Madrid to join Turkish club Fenerbahce on a four year contract. The 27 year old as failed to live up to expectation yet again after just scoring eight goals last season for Atletico. Kezman will replace Nicolas Anelka who left to join Bolton last week.
“I’m here to win a lot of trophies and score a lot of goals,” the Serbian international told a media conference.
“I think they have a lot of quality and with a coach like (Brazilian) Zico we have the capacity to win a lot.
Bayern Munich has signed Barcelona Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel. The midfielder will sign a three year contract at the club and will replace Michael Ballack who left in the summer to join Chelsea. The Dutch international will be an important signing for the club as Ze Roberto will also be leaving on a free transfer from the club.
Former PSV Eindhoven midfielder van Bommel will begin training with his new team-mates on Tuesday, and the 29-year-old says his priority is to help his new club again reign supreme in Germany.
“Then let’s see what we can do in Europe,” van Bommel added in a press conference.
“Bayern always has a strong team that allows it to perform well there.”

The match last night shows that arsenal still has a long way to go before they are on the same level as Manchester united. I am happy they got the win at the new emirates stadium, but they were very poor the only person that stood out night was Robin van Persie who provided the only spark, taking people on and having shots. You can view the goals and highlight from the clip below you may need to click play twice, if it doesn’t start on the first try.

Atletico Madrid has made a bid for want away arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes, the Spanish club has offered €12 million (£8 million) for Reyes, but this is is way below the  €18 million (£12 million) that arsenal require for the player.
“Our proposition was presented to Arsenal last week, but the English club have not moved forward,” explained Atletico director of sport Jesus Garcia Pitarch.
“The situation is complicated by the financial differences between the two clubs.”
Real Madrid who are also interested in Reyes, but they too are unwilling to meet Arsenal’s demands. Madrid latest offer is believed to have been a straight swap deal involving Robinho heading to Ashburton Grove in exchange, but that proposition is said to have been flatly refused by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

Mahamadou Diarra has expressed his excitement after completing his move to Real Madrid from Lyon.
The Mali international has signed a five-year contract with the Spanish giants and was unveiled on Tuesday evening after passing a medical.
Real have agreed to pay €26 million (£17.6 million) to the French champions for the midfielder, who was also tracked by Manchester United.
But he had long held a desire to move to the Santiago Bernabeu and is delighted to have linked up with Fabio Capello’s side.
“I’m very excited,” said Diarra. “It’s a dream for me to come and play for Madrid.
“I’m grateful for everybody’s effort during the days of the negotiations and now it’s my turn to make an effort on the field.”
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old revealed his wish to avoid having to play Lyon in this season’s UEFA Champions League.
Diarra told Lyon’s official website: “First of all, I will miss the team. Every season we have done great things.
“I have met with fantastic people here and I will miss them a lot. I have spent four superb years here.
“I really thank the fans, who have always encouraged me, even in the hard moments.
“But that is the law of football, that is destiny, and my heart will always remain with Olympique Lyonnais.
“I will be Lyon’s first fan in Spain and I will watch every match, but playing against them in the Champions League would be too heartbreaking.”
